Okay, so we have a big ole pathology test coming up this Monday. So of course I have found a suitable method of distraction! I started watching 3rd rock from the sun (remember that old show from the 90s?). Anyways, I was just dying over this episode. Yay for YouTube!
Okay, so the one I wanted wouldn't embed, so here is this longer version. The part that I loved was right at the end - skip to 7:23. Or just watch the whole thing, it's pretty funny.
In other news, Nebraska continues to be ridiculously cold, but luckily it hasn't snowed in a while, which is good. However, I am chronically cold. I am currently sitting on my couch with a sweatshirt, blanket, sweatpants, and house shoes, with the heater turned way up. Yeah, and I am still cold. Silly. Oh well!

Covered in gold!

Okay, so dental school is neat for many reasons. Most recently it is because we have been working with gold. I mean, how often do you have your teacher come up to you, hand you some zip lock bags with gold in them, and say, "that's worth a lot - might want to lock it up!" Um yes, well don't worry, it is locked up. Working with gold has also got to be one of the more frustrating things I've done in dental school. Mostly because there is a series of steps that must be completed, all as accurately as possible. And you aren't even sure if it is going to work until you get to the very end, at which point you can futz around with your gold - possibly destroying it in the process - or start over. Ha ha.
No seriously, I quite enjoy lab work. I mean, there is plenty of mixing dental stone, and making casts, and fiddling around with wax that probably isn't all that exciting. However, we get to use some pretty sweet torches, mess around with molten gold (actually, no, you NEVER "mess" around), and spend plenty of time attending to meticulous details. It's like art class for science geeks! For instance, today was a typical day at my lab bench. I was busy polishing with my trusty high-speed handpiece (drill, for those of you who don't speak dental), and I realized that my desk, and most likely my hair was covered in gold dust. It was almost as good as fairy dust. Awesome!

Beatles Love

Yes, I have love for The Beatles.
This post has been inspired in part because I finally got the Beatle's Rock Band for Christmas! Basically this was a combination of two of my loves - Guitar Hero and The Beatles! So I am pretty much addicted. Ha ha. I am already a pretty hard-core Beatles fan, but I did manage to discover a couple of new songs on the game that I had never heard of before. Awesome, right? So I put a few on my playlist, but unfortunately playlist.com doesn't really have much Beatles music on it. So from the wonders of YouTube I present two of my favorites!
This is I Me Mine. I love the guitar in this one! Oh yeah, I didn't even really watch this video, so it could be totally weird. Just enjoy the song.
Another favorite I had never heard of. Apparently this one was written by George Harrison as a tribute to the American band, The Byrds because they had inspired some of the style of the Beatles. Yeah, I don't know, I've never listened to the Byrds... maybe I need to! Anyways, please enjoy "If I needed someone"!
Also just to educate you guys on some other random songs, 'Here comes the sun,' one of my favorites, was written by George Harrison. Another which almost no one has heard of is 'Norwegian Wood,' which I believe was Lennon's creation. I like it because of the citar, which is totally random, and is also used in 'Within you without you,' another random goodie that was (unfortunately) inspired by smoking pot. Ha ha.
Listening to the Beatles always makes me feel a little bit sad, because they broke up in 1970, way before I was even born. Pretty sure I would have been one of those screaming girls at their concerts if I had been alive back then, ha ha. Anyways, I will just enjoy all their awesome music, and hopefully I have managed to convert a few of you to the ways of the Beatles!!
