The Brothers

As I was talking to a friend today, I realized that I like to refer to my five brothers as "The brothers."  It's like they are this collective unit.  (More like a unit of destruction, or something.)  Poor brothers.  Really, I have too many to refer to them individually, so they become a collective herd, or gang.  However, every once in a while I'll say "my brother" which usually means I'm talking about just one of them specifically.  But because no one here knows my brothers, I don't even bother with names.  It's going to be rough when I move back home and I have to start using their actual names!

Weekends

I love weekends.
Seriously, I had a good one.  Please tell me tomorrow isn't Monday!  Friday night I celebrated by going out to dinner then to a movie.  We ended up seeing The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter (okay, Daniel Radcliff, whatever).  I actually really liked it, but I will admit that it was pretty cheesy.  In other words, don't blame me if you go see it and you end up hating it!  However, the theater was much more crowded than usual.  I'm going to go ahead and blame Valentine's for this mess since apparently people were putting that off till the weekend.  We had about fifteen extremely loud pre-teens sitting behind us, and another family on the side of us that kept running around and talking during the entire movie.  A couple people actually got up and told them to be quiet.  We ended up getting a refund for our tickets because of this!  If it seems like I'm getting a lot of free movies these days it's because I am...  Haha.

The belated Valentine's dating fest apparently spilled over to Saturday night as well because, since we had failed to make dinner reservations, the waits were up to 2 hours.  That made for some interesting restaurant shopping, but we did eventually make it in someplace.  Italian, yum!  Then a couple of my friends and I sat up talking till close to 2:30 am, at which point I was getting so tired I was practically delirious.  Good thing I didn't have to be to church until 11.  I also love sleeping in.

Well that's about it for my weekend.  Happy Sunday night!!!

Wax disaster

Despite the weather being bitterly cold on Monday and Tuesday, it has warmed up the last couple of days, and the snow is melting!  Because of that, I thought I would share the little wax creation I have on my front yard!  (If you are confused as to what this is in reference to, refer to the previous blog post.)

Unfortunately it kinda looked like vomit in front of my porch, so I cleaned it up.  It thought it was pretty funny because it had melted all the way through and stuck to the grass!  It did turn out to look like orange coral, or something.  If I could control the mess, I think this would be a neat way to make candles.

Well Valentine's was pretty good for me.  Because I have the best mom ever, I came home to some lovely red roses.  Between these and the girl scout cookies I ordered from a lady at the dental school, it was a pretty good Valentine's!

It's a little bit funny

It's been one of those weeks where all kinds of strange things have happened.

My awkwardness usually manages to get the best of me.  For instance, earlier this week I accidentally dropped my retainer in the toilet.  Awesome.  If it had been anything else, such as a toothbrush, I would have just counted it as a loss, but because I hate making new retainers, I fished it out.  However, when it came down to it, I just couldn't put it in my mouth (despite all the Clorox I had soaked it in).  Wouldn't want to be a toilet mouth!

Last night a friend of mine and I decided to be crafty and create our own scented candles!  Yeah, never done that before, so it was a little bit of an experiment.  Knowing me, I choose bright orange wax, and sandalwood scented oil for my candle.  Being cheap, we used a pot of boiling water then put the wax in a Ziplock to melt it.  Too bad the bag broke, and all of a sudden I found myself in possession of a pot of hot water and bright orange melted wax.  Solution: dump contents on snow!  Haha, good thing it snowed last week.  Now I have a pile of orange "snow" in front of my porch.  I'm intrigued to see what it looks like when the snow melts.

This morning I took advantage of the "early start" I had, and did a little shopping.  Funny thing, since Valentine's is next Tuesday, all the stores are pushing crap like flowers and chocolate.  Costco was an absolute zoo, and I found myself questioning my motives of entering that place on a Saturday morning.  Next stop was Whole Foods for my coveted Izzes.  Yum.  Whole Foods is home to all kinds of organic crap that apparently some people just can't live without.  (...sigh, fine, include my izzes.)  However, they were giving away free samples of chocolate dipped strawberries.  Thank you St. Valentine's and snobby organic grocery stores!

Things were fairly uneventful on my drive home until I got behind a truck stacked with about three couches.  They were a couple of car lengths ahead of me when I noticed something starting to blow out of the back.  I hastily moved to the other lane to avoid a collision when a couch flew out of the back of said truck, and landed in the lane I had just switched to!  It caused quite the traffic jam, and I honestly don't know how I escaped bashing into the car in front of me.  I was completely unharmed, albeit a little shook up, possibly explaining why I dropped my fountain drink when I got home.  The outside of my car is now coated in Diet Coke flavored ice in case you were wondering...

Finally, I started having an identity crisis subsequent to the hair color switch.  You know when you dye your hair brown, then you start having nightmares that your hair really is brown and not blonde like you remember it?  No, just me?  Haha, I probably should work on that.  Yeah, it's a little awkward when you realize you can't remember you real hair color.

Now I find myself sprawled on my living room floor, basking in the sunlight, unwilling to move because I'm actually warm.  (It has been absolutely freezing for the past couple of days.  Like low of 0, high of 15 freezing.)  Anyway, hope you've enjoyed my little rant.  Now on to more productive activities!

Figures

Last Saturday we got, as my brothers would say, a "boat dump" of snow.  (That means we got a lot...)  Up until now I've really been just waiting for it to hit since we really haven't gotten a lot of snow up until this weekend.  In fact, we actually had like 60 degree weather!  I was loving it.  Therefore, Saturday became a pseudo snow day.  Pseudo because we didn't have school/work that could have been cancelled, but I did spend most of the day buried in my house.  I had a bunch of guys come over to watch movies, and I had to laugh when they showed up with a bag full of chips, queso, salsa, and candy.  Later that night I got to participate in a surprise birthday party.  It was an excellent snow day!  Sunday we had an epic Super Bowl party, complete with wings, and jalapeƱo poppers from a deep fat fryer!  So basically I ate a lot of junk food this weekend...
