Nearing the end

I feel like I've kinda abandoned this blog...  That's mostly because I have another blog dedicated to selling my house, and because I've been surprisingly busy lately.  A lot has happened!  Last entry I sold my couches in preparation for my move back to Utah.  It was maybe a bit hasty because now I have almost no furniture in my living room.  However, it makes it feel huge, and I have lots of random camp-outs on my living room floor.  I actually kinda like it.  Speaking of which, I'm almost certain I've sold my house.  We sign the contract tomorrow afternoon, which I'm very excited about, but also really sad.  I'm going to miss my little home...

In other news, last Tuesday was my last day of dental school.  That's right, LAST DAY!!!  Honestly, after taking clinical Boards mid-April, the rest of school was pretty much a down-hill slide.  It was surprisingly anti-climatic.

Since I haven't caught things up in a while, here's the story of Clinical Boards, or WREBS.  Basically this is the mother of all tests that we build up to throughout dental school.  You have to find three very specific patients who are willing to show up and go through this experience with you.  Often this involves bribery of some form, including the promise of free dental work.  I thought it was funny that this year our test happened to land on Friday the 13th which was also the day when massive storms (including tornados) were being predicted!  Luckily there were no tornados involved, but there was a huge thunderstorm.  Seriously, that's something I'm going to miss about living in Nebraska - thunderstorms, not tornados.

They had originally told us it would take a month to get our scores back, but two days later I found out I passed all the sections of my boards!!  That means Utah will now give me a license to practice dentistry (once I actually get that diploma)!  Speaking of which, graduation is coming up next week.

So there you have it.  Those are the major events that have happened in my life in the last month or so.

Farewell!

Okay, this post is dedicated to my poor old couches I just unloaded at the annual Village Green yard sale this morning.
These poor old things were pretty much on their death-bed, but somehow I couldn't get myself to give them up until forced to realize that they wouldn't survive another move.  They made it through all my collage years, several moves, even more room-mates, and got me through dental school.  (Okay, maybe I'm being just a tad bit dramatic.)  They were my favorite place to study, have a giant lounge-out movie party, or camp out for the night.  Also, the blue paint spilled on the corner reminded of my crazy artistic roommate who used to paint in our living room!

Anyway, I'm sitting out on my porch at 8am on a Saturday morning, and I realize just how trashy I look.  I'm wearing sweat pants sitting on my porch eating cereal with half my furniture on the front yard.  Yeah, I'm going to miss this!

Maui

Here's the deal.  I got a job in Hawaii.  Believe it or not, I'm super excited!  I applied to a residency program in Maui, and I found out just this last Monday that I'm going for sure.  I'll be working at a community health center doin' some sweet dentistry for the next year.  The program starts in July, so I'm planning on moving sometime mid-June.  Yeah, I'm beyond excited.  Now I just need to figure out how to get all my crap moved over-seas!

Drink Marley

Words cannot express.

Remember how I love Bob Marley, and how I have a big picture of him in my living room?  This just totally made my night!  I found this little gem at a random No Frills in North O last Saturday.  Too bad it's tea, or I'd be drinkin' this.  But seriously, check it out.  It's "all natural relaxation."  Hahahaha!!!

Pringles

A couple of weeks ago, we had this crazy activity that involved all kinds of messy, sticky food.  Oddly enough this activity started out as a formal dance.  Honestly I was really only excited about the dressing-up-fancy part of the whole event, but it ended up being a total blast.

Steve cooked us a deliciousdinner before-hand.  Also, this is the only picture I took of my dress.

After the dance we actually changed outfits so we could do some random team challenges like draw on each other's faces, and get drenched trying to wash shaving cream off our noses with squirt guns.

sauce on the back of my head, and down my neck!

This was my favorite game, mostly because it was so gross!  I got to lay on the ground with a blindfold while Steve attempted to feed me a doughnut on a string.  The real challenge lay in the fact that he dunked the thing in chocolate sauce before dropping it in my face!  Also, the doughnut ended up being incredibly unappetizing when required to practically inhale it...  I think we got like second place, though!

As you can tell from my facial expression, I wasn't especially pleased to have Hershey's syrup all over my face.  I actually had to shower before before going to bed that night because I had chocolate literally everywhere, like smeared into my hair!  (Yeah, good thing I didn't do my hair fancy... oh wait...)  In case you were wondering about the title, Pringles was short for "Prom for Singles."  Hooray for single's ward activities!

The Brothers

As I was talking to a friend today, I realized that I like to refer to my five brothers as "The brothers."  It's like they are this collective unit.  (More like a unit of destruction, or something.)  Poor brothers.  Really, I have too many to refer to them individually, so they become a collective herd, or gang.  However, every once in a while I'll say "my brother" which usually means I'm talking about just one of them specifically.  But because no one here knows my brothers, I don't even bother with names.  It's going to be rough when I move back home and I have to start using their actual names!

Weekends

I love weekends.
Seriously, I had a good one.  Please tell me tomorrow isn't Monday!  Friday night I celebrated by going out to dinner then to a movie.  We ended up seeing The Woman in Black starring Harry Potter (okay, Daniel Radcliff, whatever).  I actually really liked it, but I will admit that it was pretty cheesy.  In other words, don't blame me if you go see it and you end up hating it!  However, the theater was much more crowded than usual.  I'm going to go ahead and blame Valentine's for this mess since apparently people were putting that off till the weekend.  We had about fifteen extremely loud pre-teens sitting behind us, and another family on the side of us that kept running around and talking during the entire movie.  A couple people actually got up and told them to be quiet.  We ended up getting a refund for our tickets because of this!  If it seems like I'm getting a lot of free movies these days it's because I am...  Haha.

The belated Valentine's dating fest apparently spilled over to Saturday night as well because, since we had failed to make dinner reservations, the waits were up to 2 hours.  That made for some interesting restaurant shopping, but we did eventually make it in someplace.  Italian, yum!  Then a couple of my friends and I sat up talking till close to 2:30 am, at which point I was getting so tired I was practically delirious.  Good thing I didn't have to be to church until 11.  I also love sleeping in.
