Despite the weather being bitterly cold on Monday and Tuesday, it has warmed up the last couple of days, and the snow is melting! Because of that, I thought I would share the little wax creation I have on my front yard! (If you are confused as to what this is in reference to, refer to the previous blog post.)
Unfortunately it kinda looked like vomit in front of my porch, so I cleaned it up. It thought it was pretty funny because it had melted all the way through and stuck to the grass! It did turn out to look like orange coral, or something. If I could control the mess, I think this would be a neat way to make candles.
Well Valentine's was pretty good for me. Because I have the best mom ever, I came home to some lovely red roses. Between these and the girl scout cookies I ordered from a lady at the dental school, it was a pretty good Valentine's!

It's a little bit funny
It's been one of those weeks where all kinds of strange things have happened.
Last night a friend of mine and I decided to be crafty and create our own scented candles! Yeah, never done that before, so it was a little bit of an experiment. Knowing me, I choose bright orange wax, and sandalwood scented oil for my candle. Being cheap, we used a pot of boiling water then put the wax in a Ziplock to melt it. Too bad the bag broke, and all of a sudden I found myself in possession of a pot of hot water and bright orange melted wax. Solution: dump contents on snow! Haha, good thing it snowed last week. Now I have a pile of orange "snow" in front of my porch. I'm intrigued to see what it looks like when the snow melts.
This morning I took advantage of the "early start" I had, and did a little shopping. Funny thing, since Valentine's is next Tuesday, all the stores are pushing crap like flowers and chocolate. Costco was an absolute zoo, and I found myself questioning my motives of entering that place on a Saturday morning. Next stop was Whole Foods for my coveted Izzes. Yum. Whole Foods is home to all kinds of organic crap that apparently some people just can't live without. (...sigh, fine, include my izzes.) However, they were giving away free samples of chocolate dipped strawberries. Thank you St. Valentine's and snobby organic grocery stores!
Things were fairly uneventful on my drive home until I got behind a truck stacked with about three couches. They were a couple of car lengths ahead of me when I noticed something starting to blow out of the back. I hastily moved to the other lane to avoid a collision when a couch flew out of the back of said truck, and landed in the lane I had just switched to! It caused quite the traffic jam, and I honestly don't know how I escaped bashing into the car in front of me. I was completely unharmed, albeit a little shook up, possibly explaining why I dropped my fountain drink when I got home. The outside of my car is now coated in Diet Coke flavored ice in case you were wondering...
Finally, I started having an identity crisis subsequent to the hair color switch. You know when you dye your hair brown, then you start having nightmares that your hair really is brown and not blonde like you remember it? No, just me? Haha, I probably should work on that. Yeah, it's a little awkward when you realize you can't remember you real hair color.
Now I find myself sprawled on my living room floor, basking in the sunlight, unwilling to move because I'm actually warm. (It has been absolutely freezing for the past couple of days. Like low of 0, high of 15 freezing.) Anyway, hope you've enjoyed my little rant. Now on to more productive activities!
My awkwardness usually manages to get the best of me. For instance, earlier this week I accidentally dropped my retainer in the toilet. Awesome. If it had been anything else, such as a toothbrush, I would have just counted it as a loss, but because I hate making new retainers, I fished it out. However, when it came down to it, I just couldn't put it in my mouth (despite all the Clorox I had soaked it in). Wouldn't want to be a toilet mouth!

Figures
Last Saturday we got, as my brothers would say, a "boat dump" of snow. (That means we got a lot...) Up until now I've really been just waiting for it to hit since we really haven't gotten a lot of snow up until this weekend. In fact, we actually had like 60 degree weather! I was loving it. Therefore, Saturday became a pseudo snow day. Pseudo because we didn't have school/work that could have been cancelled, but I did spend most of the day buried in my house. I had a bunch of guys come over to watch movies, and I had to laugh when they showed up with a bag full of chips, queso, salsa, and candy. Later that night I got to participate in a surprise birthday party. It was an excellent snow day! Sunday we had an epic Super Bowl party, complete with wings, and jalapeƱo poppers from a deep fat fryer! So basically I ate a lot of junk food this weekend...

Dental Prom 2012!
Hey guys, it's that time of year again! Seriously, dental students look forward to this event with way too much anticipation (probably because of the open bar)... This year was awesome since we didn't have any snow, meaning I could wear some rockin' heels! We met up for dinner and after rejecting a two hour wait for the Cheesecake factory, we ended up at a place called Granite City. It was pretty dang tasty.
Me and Will at the Prom. We didn't even plan it, but we managed to be twinsies. Haha, not really, but we were both wearing orange thanks to my sweet flower!
We eventually got bored of all the drunk people at the prom and went to a movie - that's right, dressed like this! Funny story, they forgot to take the lens cap off the projector, so we had about five minutes of sound with no picture. It was totally worth it since they eventually got it figured out, and then they gave us a free movie pass! All in all, a pretty good night.

Some things
I'm sitting at my house on a Tuesday morning, and I decided that I've had enough random things happen in the last week or so that I could maybe salvage a blog out of it! First of all, don't worry, I'm not ditching school. Clinic is closed today for Mock Boards, so I got the day off.
Yesterday I took clinical Mock Boards, which meant I felt like I had been hit by a bus by the end of the day. We decided to celebrate being done by going out to dinner at BWW! Sadly the day got to me, and I built-up a massive migraine. Thanks to that, I went to bed at 8:00 and slept for a solid twelve hours. Huh. Also, I had about five people either calling or texting me, which was awkward since I had photophobia and the light of my phone was just too much for me! Therefore, I kinda dropped off the face of the planet last night.
In other news, this weekend I spontaneously decided to do something drastic
Okay, it wasn't really that spontaneous since I had been thinking about it for a while, but I finally got up the courage to do it on Saturday. Yay! It's been really entertaining to hear people's comments since I didn't tell anyone, I just showed up like this. I've been told more than once that people didn't recognize me - it's like I converted to stealth mode!

New Year
2012 here we come!
I'm pretty excited because 2012 has been my ever distant "light at the end of the tunnel" year. I will finally be graduating dental school, and moving on to real life! However, instead of just looking ahead, I thought it might be fun to look back at 2011.
Things that happened in 2011:
I took my Part II National Dental Boards
I participated in multiple random road trips in the midwest, including Minneapolis (MALL OF AMERICA!), Kansas City, Nauvoo, and Des Moines.... I didn't say that all of my trips were awesome, but I have visited several more states!
I had my last summer break ever
I put my beloved house up for sale :(
I took a chance on a relationship
I saw two musicals - Wicked and Les Miserables
I lost my ability to become embarrassed in a public situation
I rediscovered my love of bright eyeshadow

I entered the world of smart phones, and became overly dependent on mobile internet
I grew my hair out all year long

I discovered Pandora
I undertook several home improvement campaigns, including painting, hanging new blinds, and replacing an old towel rack
I improved upon my amazing shoe collection
I participated in a bunch of midnight movies
I got a new favorite band
That's about all I can think of right now. All-in-all, a pretty good year with a lot of firsts, including a bunch not exactly mentioned. Here's to 2011, and hopefully 2012 will also be a lot more firsts!

Shut up!
I'm one of those people who gets a kick out of weird, random things. Like this:
Okay, I like this song, but I gotta say, best part is the last two seconds.
